Icelandic lore is rich of trolls (giants) that lived in the mountains and the remote highlands of the island.

Sculptured by Icelandic artist Ása Valdimarsdóttir.

Icelandic lore is rich of trolls (giants) that lived in the mountains and the remote highlands of the island. People believed that these trolls were about in the dark and would turn into rock if caught by early light. As such they became a part of the unique landscape of Iceland.

The sculpture is 10 cm high and 15 cm long.

Made out of clay and Icelandic lava rock.

Ása is an Icelandic artist inspired by her country’s dramatic nature, rich folklore and islands animals. Her work evokes the timeless stories, landscape and animal life on our little volcanic island. Reflecting both the fragility and enduring power of Icelandic nature and tradition.
